The original lineup of Scottish rock band Simple Minds will hit the studio for the first time in 27 years next month to record “at least two new tracks,” the group said on its Web site.
Frontman Jim Kerr and guitarist Charlie Burchill, the only current original members, will be joined by drummer Brian McGee, bassist Derek Forbes, and keyboardist Mick McNeil, who all split in the 1980s. (Forbes returned in 1997-1998.)
Kerr and Burchill said on the site (http://www.simpleminds.com) that they viewed the reunion as a “nice experiment. The week-long reformation is being viewed as one of many ‘let’s see what happens’ ideas that they look forward to working on over the course of the next year.”
