For the first time since 1984, ’80s darlings Patty Smyth and Scandal have plans to release new music.
The band’s original members — Smyth, guitarist Keith Mack and keyboardist/guitarist Benjy King — have joined up with new bassist Tom Welsch and drummer Eran Asias for the reunion, which will put the group back on the road and into the studio, though specific touring and recording plans have not been announced.
“We’re kicking ass and blowing minds out there,” says Smyth. “I’ve never had more fun.”
The band’s debut self-titled EP produced the hit “Goodbye to You,” and 1984’s “The Warrior,” buoyed by the success of the title track, eventually sold more than a million copies. Following the tour in support of “The Warrior,” the group disbanded.
