The Rubik’s Cube is set to make a comeback, along with Star Wars and Indiana Jones toys, as one of the most popular toys this Christmas, according to Woolworths.
Other toys associated with the 1980s will also be in demand come the end of the year, the retailer predicted.
Releasing its list of the top ten toys this Christmas, Woolworths said it expects the three-dimensional puzzle that gripped the nation more than 20 years ago to sell well.
The Rubik’s Cube fell out of favour in the 1990s but is experiencing a revival following the popularity of tutorials on YouTube and “speedcubing”, where players compete to be the first to match the colours. Over 300 million of the cubes have been sold worldwide, since its launch in 1979.
