As W. Axl Rose of Guns N’ Roses prepares to release the band’s first album of new songs in 17 years, the British press is full of news that another 80s pop icon, Michael Jackson, will make a public appearance in London’s High Court next week.

After an application to testify by video link from Los Angeles was apparently turned down, Mr. Jackson has now been given medical clearance to travel. He will argue in person against allegations that he breached a music contract with an Arab sheikh, the King of Bahrain’s second son, Sheikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

The sheikh is reportedly seeking repayment for money he gave to Mr. Jackson, beginning in 2005 — including hundreds of thousands of dollars to cover Mr. Jackson’s legal bills in a child-molestation trial — claiming that the pop star agreed to make an album and be involved with a stage play and autobiography.
